Grove Alternative Academy students performed several guitar selections for the residents at Grand Lake Villa.  The concert was a culmination of a year long arts grant proposal.  Through a grant provided by the Oklahoma Arts Council, students have been taking guitar lessons throughout the school year. 

 

Cody Frost, a state and national award-winning guitarist, instructed students in the art of playing the guitar.  Cody has played with many outstanding bands such as, The Lively Stones, and Jana Jae’s Hotwire band.  Cody has been a featured act at Silver Dollar City’s “Great American Bluegrass Festival.”

 

The “Adopt a Senior” program is just one of many community service projects that Grove Alternative Academy have implemented in their curriculum.

Grove Alternative Academy students enjoy spending time with the new friends they have made at Grand Lake Villa.  Pumpkin painting was the theme of today's visit.  Grove Alternative Academy students welcome the opportunity to visit once a month and learn more about the exciting past these seniors have experienced.
