Arts at Key Academy
For a second consecutive year, students at Key Academy in McAlester took part in pottery instruction that was made possible by the award of the Arts in Alternative Education grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council. The academy contracted artist Yusuf Etudaiye, a contemporary African Artist from Nigeria, to provide instruction that integrated life skills and techniques of working with clay. Purchases for the project included a turning wheel, 600 pounds of clay, and glazes for color and firing preparation. Students completed individual and group projects that were displayed for public viewing at the academy, the First National Bank of McAlester, and the McAlester Bank NA.
